Entry Profiles are intended to give potential applicants specific information to help them make informed decisions about the courses they apply for. Detailed knowledge about the course, about formal entry requirements and about the qualities and experiences you are looking for in your applicants can help ensure that every applicant finds his or her way onto the right course. Entry Profiles have been available to applicants to undergraduate courses on the UCAS Course Search for several years, and they can be compiled for courses in the GTTR system as well. Once they are published, they would be available for all potential GTTR applicants to view, as they search for courses and start making important initial decisions about where to apply.
Courses can vary considerably at different training providers, even though the names of courses will be exactly the same. Differences in course content, structure, teaching staff or teaching placements can make the teacher training experience very different for students at different training providers, even before the size and location of the training provider is taken into account. It is important, therefore, that applicants are fully informed about every aspect of the course and the training provider offering it before they apply, and that they know what training providers' admissions staff are looking for in an applicant. They can then make fully informed choices, and avoid mistakes that could be costly both to themselves and, ultimately, to you.
More and more institutions are discovering that Entry Profiles provide a way of communicating directly with potential applicants - and that they can be topical and up-to-date in the information they provide. Links within the Entry Profile can be directly to specific web pages on your website, or specially written 'need to know' items of current interest. Admissions staff can use their Entry Profiles to reach particular groups of applicants, for example, international students, or to explain how teaching placements will be arranged, or to outline the decision-making process.
You can view examples of published Entry Profiles on the GTTR Course Search. If you have detailed information already on your own website, a link can be made to that specific web page from the Entry Profile page. The important consideration is that this information - provided by you - is detailed and comprehensive, and appears at the logical site - the GTTR Course Search.
Access the Entry Profile database to add profiles for your courses. You will need a GTTR Entry Profile username and password to enter the database. If you do not have a GTTR Entry Profile username and password or you need more information, please call the Courses Data Team on 01242 544864 or email coursesdata@ucas.ac.uk.
Before you send your Entry Profiles to us for approval, please read the GTTR Entry Profile approval process and the Checklist for Entry Profile approval.
