Entry Profiles benefit both you and your potential students

Entry Profiles are intended to give potential applicants specific information to help them make informed decisions about the courses they apply for. Detailed knowledge about the course, about formal entry requirements and about the qualities and experiences you are looking for in your applicants can help ensure that every applicant finds his or her way onto the right teaching course. Entry Profiles are published on GTTR Course Search. They are therefore available for all potential applicants to view as they search for courses and start making important initial decisions about where to apply

Entry Profiles help students differentiate between courses

Courses can vary considerably at different training providers, even though the names of courses will be exactly the same. Differences in course content, structure, teaching staff or teaching placements can make the teacher training experience very different for students at different training providers, even before the size and location of the training provider is taken into account. It is important, therefore, that applicants are fully informed about every aspect of the course and the training provider offering it before they apply, and that they know what training providers' admissions staff are looking for in an applicant. They can then make fully informed choices, and avoid mistakes that could be costly both to themselves and, ultimately, to you.

Entry Profiles benefit you as well as your applicants

Entry Profiles provide a way of communicating directly with potential applicants - and that they can be topical and up-to-date in the information they provide. Links within the Entry Profile can be directly to specific web pages on your website, or specially written 'need to know' items of current interest. Admissions staff can use their Entry Profiles to reach particular groups of applicants, for example, international students, or to explain how teaching placements will be arranged, or to outline the decision-making process.

The development of Entry Profiles has alerted the GTTR to the possibility of them becoming even more useful to training providers in the current recruitment climate. As media debates and government initiatives, and training providers themselves work to enhance transparency and fairness in admissions procedures, Entry Profiles offer a simple solution to those training providers wishing to give guidance to their future students about preparing for teacher training and submitting an application. Many training providers are working to widen participation and access. What better way to communicate your policies in these areas and entry procedures for each course than through an Entry Profile?

You can view examples of published Entry Profiles on the GTTR Course Search. If you have detailed information already on your own website, a link can be made to that specific web page from the Entry Profile page. The important consideration is that this information - provided by you - is detailed and comprehensive, and appears at the logical site - GTTR Course Search.
